FAQs - Frequently asked questions

How is Silverball jewellery produced?

All Silverball jewellery is handcrafted in my little shepherd’s hut in England using traditional methods and techniques. Because each piece is individually made they may vary slightly in appearance giving them an unique handcrafted quality.

How do I care for my jewellery to keep it looking new?

To keep your jewellery looking new, follow these care tips:

  1. Storage:

    • Store each piece separately to prevent scratching.
    • Use soft pouches or lined jewellery boxes.
    • Avoid exposing jewellery to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
  2. Cleaning:

    • Regularly clean your jewellery using mild soap and warm water.
    • Use a soft brush to remove dirt and debris.
    • Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a soft cloth.
  3. Avoid:

    • Remove jewellery before swimming, showering, or exercising.
    • Avoid contact with chemicals (perfume, hairspray, etc.).
    • Take your jewellery off before bedtime to prevent damage.
  4. Polishing:

    • Use a jewellery polishing cloth to restore shine.
    • For silver, use a silver-specific polish.
    • Be gentle to avoid scratching delicate surfaces.

Remember, proper care ensures your jewellery stays beautiful for years!

How to measure for rings

  1. Print the Ring Sizer:

    • Print the ring sizer document at 100% scale using Adobe Reader.
    • Verify the scale by measuring the marks with a ruler.
  2. Using the Ring Gauge:

    • Cut around the edge of the ring gauge and create a slit along the “Make a cut here” marking.
    • Slip the pointed end through the slit to form a loose circle.
    • Place the gauge around your finger and read your size.
    • Remember to keep it slightly looser than you’d expect, allowing for easy removal over your knuckle.
    • If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next size up.
  3. Tips for Accuracy:

    • Measure your fingers when they’re warm (not too hot or cold).
    • Strengthen the gauge by adding Sellotape to the back before cutting it out.
  4. Size Guide (Ring Fingers):

    • Petite ladies (size 8 to 10) typically wear size K or L
    • Medium-sized ladies (sizes 12 to 14) usually wear M, N, or O
    • Ladies (sizes 16 to 18) range from P to R
  5. Alternative Method:

    • Place an existing ring on the ring sizes below to determine the correct size.
    • Ensure the circle fits snugly inside your existing ring.

Remember, when in doubt, opt for the next size up.

How to measure for bangles

Measuring for bracelets and bangles is essential to ensure a comfortable fit. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Bracelets:

    • Wrist Measurement:
      • Wrap a flexible tape measure, strip of paper, or string around your wrist just below the wrist bone (where the bracelet would normally sit). Mark where it stops.
    • Size Calculation:
      • For a snug fit, add 1/4 to 1/2 inch (approximately 0.64 to 1.27 cm).
      • For a comfortable fit, add 3/4 to 1 inch (approximately 1.91 to 2.54 cm).
      • For a loose fit, add about 1-1/4 inch (approximately 3.18 cm).
  2. Bangles:

    • Hand Circumference:
      • Hold your hand as if putting on a bangle, with all fingers together (thumb and little finger touching).
      • Measure around the hand at the widest point using a tape measure or strip of paper.
    • Size Determination:
      • The measurement from step 2 is your bangle size.
